Our first post--25 Weeks

Drew and I decided to start a blog as a way to help keep track of all the crazy changes that are happening in our lives. Today we are 25 weeks and 5 days along in this pregnancy.  Each and every day feels like a special blessing as I get to carry two precious gifts!  We are still in shock and awe that we are having TWINS.  To hear of people only carrying one baby seems like such an anomaly.  Everything about our vocabulary and outlook has changed in the previous weeks and months.  We have slowly switched to plural language, such as "bab(ies)," "blanket(s), crib(s), car seat(s), etc.

It is fun to be able to feel their kicks and moves all day long.  Since our twins are fraternal and in individual sacs, they pretty much stay on one side of my belly or the other.  Baby A (our girl) is always on the left and she is definitely the most active of the two.  She moves and kicks all day long and all night.  Baby B (our boy) is always on the right and he is very calm and rarely kicks.  He moves a couple of times a day in a blob-type fashion up and down my belly before finding a comfy spot.  I personally believe he is trying his hardest to get away from his kick-happy sister!

We have purchased their cribs and mattresses along with their car seats.  So, if for any reason they need to come early, we are ready.  Of course, we desperately want them to stay inside and grow for as long as possible.  This has been a difficult pregnancy as it has wreaked havoc upon my body, but a perfectly normal pregnancy as far as the twins are concerned.  They are both happy, healthy, and growing like weeds!  Our Girl weighs 1 lb. 4 oz and her brother weighs 1 lb. 5 oz.  We now see the doctors for ultrasounds anywhere from 2-4 weeks and can keep a close watch on their progress.  I am beginning to pack on the weight now--gaining roughly 1-3 lbs per week. This is a normal range for a twin pregnancy. The twins are growing rapidly at this stage--roughly 6-10 ounces a piece per week.

We visit the doctor at the end of this week and hope all is well.  We are planning to travel to SC for a baby shower and Thanksgiving this weekend.  Since we will be staying at home for Christmas, this upcoming week will be a great time to spend with the Hayes family.

Please keep all four of us in your prayers as we continue along this journey to go from a family of two to a family of four!
